The Politics of Envy

President Obama and the left want what they call the "99%" to hate, yes, hate the "1%". Pitting American against American out of envy.

To justify their need to punish the rich, the left uses Jesus Christ to bolster their call for higher taxes on the rich in order to "help the poor" (we all know their real goal is socialism). They love to say that Jesus Christ hated the rich and spoke about giving to the poor all the time (they fail to mention that Jesus spoke most often about the Kingdom of God and the need for all of mankind to repent of their sins).

The truth is, Jesus loves everyone, yes, even the rich.  Jesus did tell the rich men who came to him to voluntarily share their wealth with the poor. The left wants money to be taken from people by force through higher and higher taxation. The lust for more and more power drives the left, not really helping people.

Jesus interacted with the rich as well as with the poor.  For example: Zacchaeus, the rich tax collector.  That's right, Zacchaeus was a rich man and a tax collector all at the same time (The left would have to love him and hate him at the same time).

Zacchaeus was a government worker who collected taxes from the people, cheating as he went. He became rich in the process.

Here's what happened as recorded in Luke 19:1-10:

1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a ‘sinner.’”
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

Jesus wants everyone, the rich and the poor, to turn to Him and away from their sins and be saved. For the left to use Jesus Christ in their scheme to divide people based on income is twisted; and, promoting envy and class warfare is wrong.
